The South Dakota Discovery Center is seeking students who are enrolled in high school or their freshman/sophomore years of college to apply for a micro-internship. In this two hour internship, interns will beta test an online air quality monitoring tool for public audiences and classroom use. This tool is used by scientists to understand air quality issues in real time.
A $50 stipend is provided upon completion of the micro-internship.
Date: Sunday September 20, 2026
Time: 2pm CT/1pm MT - 4pm CT/3pm MT
Location: Via Zoom.
Qualifications:
• Be enrolled in a South Dakota high school (grades 9-12) or college/university (freshman/sophomore).
• Must have a laptop that can access Zoom and Google Drive. Chromebooks are ok. Check with your school’s tech coordinator if using a school issued device. Phones will not be able to load materials needed for an internship.
• Be available for the full two hours of the internship.
• Be interested in air quality.
Students should apply by Friday September 11, 2026. Notification of acceptance will be Monday September 14. Application form

3️⃣ Third Grade + Third Day of School = Lots of 3s! 3️⃣
Our 3rd graders celebrated the 3rd day of school with several fun “3” activities throughout the day! 🎉 What a fun way to kick off their year and make the third day extra special! 💙📚
Our 7th graders took on a Zipline STEM Challenge that put their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills to the test! 🧠🔧 Teams worked together to design and build structures that could safely travel the zipline. The challenge winners had the fastest, lightest, and safest structures! 🏆 Great job, 7th graders, for taking on the challenge and thinking like engineers! 💡👏

The Warner School Board, following a special July school board meeting, offered local citizens the opportunity to submit questions for discernment in relation to the current athletic complex bathroom facility project. Community members had until July 31, 2026, to submit questions for the board to consider. We offered this opportunity as a way for board members to answer questions in a thoughtful and respectful manner while also providing clarity where possible. It is important to note that three local taxpayers have filed a lawsuit against the Warner School District. As a result, some questions may not be able to be answered with respect to the issues of the case. Other answers were not available because some of the details have yet to be finalized. For example, the new completion date of the project is still to be determined, as a contract for completion has not been awarded.
Three different individuals submitted questions for the board to consider. Following the August 10, 2026, school board meeting, answers were compiled, reviewed, and completed for public viewing. Please see the link included to read the questions, the School District’s answer, and who submitted the question.
The School District hopes this provides some clarity on issues, while acknowledging some answers lack certainty some people seek. We will continue to update everyone as work progresses. With that in mind, physical work is at standstill and will remain that way until new specifications can be completed for bidding.
Additionally, the District is waiting for the courts to provide a remedy for the first half of the build. The District will act in accordance with the judge’s decision and interpretation of the law as presented. While the other two interested parties (local taxpayers who filed the suit and Mammoth Sports Construction) have a specific desired outcome; the District is simply waiting for the remedy and acting accordingly.
