Hello Monarch Families!! We are excited to welcome you Back to School! Please see some details below on some important back to school information. OPEN HOUSE: Please make sure to attend our Open House on Monday, August 19th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. -Our Admin team will be grilling up some burgers and hotdogs so come hungry! -Pick up your family packet from Mrs. Lane to get all your forms filled out. -Bring your school supplies to bring to your classroom/locker and meet your teachers! -JK/K Students can bring supplies during their scheduled time on the 21st & 22nd. -6th Grade & 9th Grade Orientations (letters were sent out with information). FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: -Wednesday, August 21st with the tardy bell ringing at 8:25 a.m. -Doors open for the school day at 8:00 a.m. -Busses will run and breakfast will be served! -JK/K students will start on Friday, August 23rd LUNCH MONEY/FEES: -You can pay lunch money and some of your fees through your Parent Portal if you want. No Debit/Credit Fee associated with these purchases. -Lunch Prices for 2024/25 are: JK-12 Breakfast $2.25, JK-5 Lunch $3.05, 6-12 Lunch $3.25, Seconds $1.00, Extra Milk $0.40. PARENT PORTAL: -All parents are given access to Parent Portal. You can check your students grades, add money to their lunch accounts, pay for before care, and check students attendance. -Please make sure you update any address, phone, or e-mail address changes so the school has all of the correct information. ACTIVITY TICKETS: -Grades JK-5 $15.00, Grades 6-12 $25.00, Adults $50.00. -Family (Immediate living in same household) $130.00. -Sr. Citizen (Age 55-65) $40.00. -Royal Blue (over 65 or Military) Free

Just a quick reminder on the Fall Sports Meeting tonight at 7:00 in the Welke Gym (old gym). This meeting will be for fall sports. Mr. Severson will visit quickly and then parents/students will disperse to the appropriate location to visit with coaches. Please bring all completed physicals and waiver sheets. There will be two tables set up (one boys/one girls). Please put the appropriate sheets where they go. Banner pictures for seniors will be taken at 6:00 as well. The Golf interest meeting will also be held at 6:30 in the Welke Gym. Practice Start Dates Football and Cheerleading - Thursday August 8th Cross Country and Volleyball - Thursday August 15th

On Monday August 5th at 6:30, prior to the Fall Sports Meeting, there will be a meeting to discuss the potential of adding a golf program. If interested, the meeting will be in the Welke Gym prior to the Fall Sports Meeting.

Prior to the 2024-25 school year, each student grades 6-12 who participates in an activty at Warner needs to complete and turn in the waiver sheet (Insurance and Release Form). This form is found in the Warner Athletic Handbook (pages 15 and 16). It can be found by going to https://www.warner.k12.sd.us/ and clicking on Menu on the right side. It will be found under Activities. Please bring these to the Fall Sports Meeting on Monday night.

On Monday Night starting at 6:00, the Seniors will be getting their picture taken for the Banners in the Arena. Pictures will be taken in the Welke Gym (formerly the Aux Gym). Just a quick reminder on Parents Night Dates for Fall Sports: Football - September 6th vs. Ipswich Volleyball - September 5th vs. Leola-Frederick Cross Country - October 4th (Homecoming Football Game vs. Redfield)

Just a reminder on the Fall Sports Meeting being held on Monday August 5th at 7:00 PM. This meeting will be held in the Welke Gym (Aux Gym). Once again the start dates for fall sports are below: Football - Thursday August 8th Cheerleading - Thursday August 8th Cross Country - Thursday August 15th Volleyball - Thursday August 15th Please send bring completed physical sheets to the meeting on Monday Night.

Wow! Summer has flown by!! As we gear up for the upcoming school year, there is one little project for the playground to do!! On August 12th @ 7 p.m. > weather permitting > we would like to start painting some playground fun for the kids! Thank you to all for your continued support and your volunteer time!! Concussion Testing TOMORROW and WEDNESDAY! Please enter through the front doors (Door #1 by the flagpole). All students with a smartphone will need to download the "Sway Medical" App BEFORE coming to the school. If you were unable to make it last week, please be sure to make it the next two days. 8:00 - 10:00 AM.

Just a reminder on concussion testing for athletes in grades 6-12 coming up. Prior to testing, please have your student athlete download the "Sway Medical" app on their phone. We will be using a new platform this year for concussion testing. Dates for testing and times are below. If you cannot attend a date, it is fine for a boy to attend a time during the girls dates, and vice-versa for girls. Also, please attend even if you are not out for a fall sport. Boys - Tuesday July 23rd and Wednesday July 24th - 8:00 - 10:00 AM both days Girls - Tuesday July 30th and Wednesday July 31st - 8:00 - 10:00 AM both days

The SDHSAA is attempting to gather the economic impact data of our state events for the purposes of engaging local chambers of commerce to explore ways to keep costs to families down and to explore cost saving avenues for our member schools. Below are some notable dates for fall athletics coming up. The Fall Sports Meeting will be held on Monday August 5th at 7:00 PM. The first football practice for High School and Middle School (Grades 7 & 8) will be held on Thursday August 8th. The first cross country (Grades 6-12) and volleyball (grades 6-12) will be held on Thursday August 15th. Cheerleading is TBD. Make sure physicals are getting scheduled and completed if you have not already.

This year, Warner student-athletes will be doing concussion testing through a different platform. It will be important for students to be at one of the testing times, as an Athletic Trainer will be conducting the baseline tests. Even if a student is not out for a sport until the winter or spring, please have them show up at one of these times. Boys - Tuesday July 23rd and Wednesday July 24th - 8:00 - 10:00 AM both days Girls - Tuesday July 30th and Wednesday July 31st - 8:00 - 10:00 AM both days

The School library will be open today from 10 am to 11:30 am. Kids are welcome to come and make and take a craft during that time. If you can not make it during that time and would like to return your library books- there is a box in the front entry way for you to drop them off.

Today we kicked off our Summer Reading program. The kids had fun going on a bear hunt and making a necklace. We have 2 more weeks left.

A few summer reminders: The Gym will be closed starting Monday, June 3rd for the summer as the floor gets re-done. The Arena will stay extra busy because of this, so please make sure to look at the calendar on our website before coming in to use the Arena. Students are welcome to come in to use the Arena during the summer Monday through Thursday during the day. They need to come in through the front entrance and check in at the office before heading down there so we know who is down there and can have the cameras up for liability purposes. They may want to call the school (605-225-6397) and talk to Mrs. Vetter or Mr. Kroll before coming in to make sure it is open. Both gyms will be closed at the end of July for waxing, so please watch the calendar as the dates get closer.
